Prisoner Intake
Overview
This article explains how to add a new prisoner into custody using the Prisoner Check module in 911 Tech.
Steps
1. Start a new intake From the Prisoner Check dashboard, click New Intake — either from the main button or the small shortcut button. This opens the prisoner intake screen.
2. Fill out the intake form The intake form is fully customizable per agency — fields and requirements will vary. Fill out the available fields for the prisoner. A few things to note:
- Date of Birth — entering a DOB will automatically calculate the prisoner's age
- Juvenile toggle — if the calculated age is under 18, the juvenile flag will toggle on automatically; this can be overridden if needed
- Jurisdiction — if your agency handles multiple jurisdictions, select the appropriate one
- Bond Type — select as applicable
- Arresting Officer / Searching Officer — if that's you, click the Me button as a shortcut
- Person Notified — select if applicable
- Report Number
- Status — your agency will have a default (e.g., Placed into Cell)
- Intake Date/Time — defaults to the current date and time
- Cell — select the cell or area the prisoner is being brought into (e.g., Booking)
- Check Frequency — your agency will have a default (e.g., Hourly)
- Charges — enter if applicable
Tip: Currently in-custody prisoners are listed at the bottom of the intake screen so you can avoid placing someone next to an incompatible detainee.
3. Complete the intake Once the form is filled out, click to complete the intake. The screen will refresh and, depending on your agency's configuration, you'll be taken to either the Prisoner Check screen or back to the New Intake screen.
4. Verify on the dashboard Navigate back to the dashboard to confirm the new prisoner appears. Cards are color-coded:
- 🟢 Green — check is current
- 🟡 Yellow — check is coming due soon
5. Perform a prisoner check if needed If a card is yellow, click on it, select the status, and submit the check to reset the timer and turn the card green.
Notes
- Form fields and required items are configured per agency. Contact your administrator to adjust.
- Check frequency is set agency-wide but may vary per prisoner depending on configuration.
